millet khichdi

2 cups

ingredients

  • millet (any millet which is available) - ½ cup

  • yellow moong dal - ¼ cup

  • oil - 1 tbsp 

  • carrot - ½ pc

  • green peas - ¼ cup

  • mustard seeds (rai) - ½  tsp

  • hing (asafoetida) - ¼ tsp

  • turmeric powder - ½ tsp

  • rock salt (pink Himalayan) - to taste

  • water - 1 cup

  • capsicum - ½ pc

  • green beans - 2 pc

  • tomato - ½ pc

  • curry leaves - 1 sprig

  • cumin seeds - ¼ tsp

  • cabbage - ¼ cup

  • ginger - ½ inch

  • garlic - 2 cloves

  • red chilli powder - ¼ tsp

  • lemon - ½ pc

  • coriander leaves - 2 sprigs

steps to do

  1. wash and soak the millet and moong dal separately.

  2. in a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida.

  3. add the mixed vegetables and sauté for a few minutes.

  4. drain the soaked millet and dal, add them to the cooker and add the spices. 

  5. cook for 2 whistles or until the khichdi is cooked.
