ingredients

  • white rice- 0.5 cup

  • yellow moong- 0.25 cup

  • dal-1 cup

  • water-1 tsp

  • rock salt (pink himalayan)- 1 tbsp

  • wood pressed groundnut oil- 1 tbsp

  • cumin seeds- 0.5 tsp

  • black pepper powder- 0.25 tsp

  • ginger- 0.5 inch

  • dried red chilli-1 pc

  • cashew- 4 pc

  • hing (Asafoetida)- 0.25 tsp

steps to do

  1. soak rice and dal for few minutes.

  2. heat oil in a pressure cooker, then add rice and moong dal and sauté until aromatic.

  3. add water and salt, mix well, and pressure cook for 5 whistles on medium flame.

  4. once the pressure settles, open the cooker and mix the khichdi well.

  5. in a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin, pepper, ginger, green chili, cashews, and thing.

  6. sauté on low flame until the cashews turn golden brown.

  7. pour the tempering over the cooked rice and dal mixture. mix well, and add more ghee if desired.
